"Thanks again for a great PD. It was thoroughly enjoyed by all and many have said it was the most practical PD they have ever been to! They have all got their displays up and we have set out a timetable of how we might roll this out for the rest of the year.”
Integrating VCOP into Classroom Practice and Planning
Time: 9:00am - 3:30pm
F2F Cost: $350 (plus GST) per person
Online: $300 (plus GST) per person

If you have ever said ‘I love Big Write & VCOP, but I can’t quite get my head around how Monday-Wednesday literacy will look in my classroom’, then this is the session for you.
The aim of today is to reassure, reaffirm, and reignite your ability to implement Big Write & VCOP:
· It will clarify and clear up any misunderstandings, and ensure there is personalised question and answer time.
· It will provide you with a better understanding of how to plan and implement V.C.O.P integrated games and activities while teaching the English and Integrated Curriculum.
Please bring a copy of your English term planner, your weekly timetable as well as a timetable template to write in. We want you to have a go at planning to implement what you learn.
· You will partake in the process from planning, through to teaching/modelling, and then setting an engaging task.
· We will also re-model self-editing, breakdown buddies (red/green comments), and the Student Friendly Criterion Scale, to ensure you feel confident introducing them into the classroom, (If required.)
This follow up course to Introduction to Big Write and VCOP is a practical whole day professional development session, suitable for all year levels and all types of educators. It is designed to support classroom practice and planning by identifying VCOP goals in the curriculum, and creating integrated lessons for your literacy sessions. It is specifically designed to support those struggling with integrating VCOP into their literacy sessions. You will also be taken through the Friday intensive analysis session to ensure you have the skills to model it effectively in your classroom and support students in self-editing.

Matching to the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers by AITSL
When you complete any professional learning to maintain your teaching accreditation, you have to record it with your state educational body and match the content against the national teaching standards by AITSL. As a rule, if a provider claims their course covers set standards, the course must focus at least 40 minutes of total course time to that focus. And as we know with teaching and learning, more than one concept can be learnt at a time. So we have broken down our codes into two categories, major and minor.
Major, are standard descriptors we want to ensure underpin our course focus points, and we guarantee at least 1 hour of total course time is dedicated to covering these focus descriptors.
Minor, are standard descriptors we also firmly believe we cover through our course content and delivery, based on approximately 40 minutes of dedicated course time. However, they are covered through content delivery of the main focal standards.
Graduate
Major: 1.5.1, 2.5.1, 3.2.1, 3.5.1, 5.2.1
Minor: 2.1.1, 2.3.1, 3.1.1, 3.3.1, 3.4.1, 4.1.1
Proficient
Major: 1.5.2, 2.5.2, 3.2.2, 3.5.2, 5.2.2
Minor: 2.1.2, 2.3.1, 3.1.2, 3.3.2, 3.4.2, 4.1.2
Highly Accomplished
Major: 2.5.3, 3.1.3, 3.2.3, 5.2.3
Minor: 3.4.3, 4.1.3
These codes are just suggestions and it is the learner's choice which codes they write up in their PD logs. However, it is recommended to only focus on 5-6 codes per course.
